# ISO 8835-3:2007 AGSS transfer and receiving systems (withdrawn)

ISO 8835-3:2007, Inhalational anaesthesia systems, Part 3: Transfer and receiving systems of active anaesthetic gas scavenging systems, is an ISO standard withdrawn on 8 August 2011; ISO lists ISO 80601-2-13 as its revision, and the edition in force is ISO 80601-2-13:2022, with Amendment 1:2026.

## Status

ISO 8835-3:2007 (edition 2, August 2007, 23 pages, ISO/TC 121/SC 1) was confirmed on 5 January 2011, marked for revision on 26 January 2011 and withdrawn on 8 August 2011. ISO lists ISO 80601-2-13:2011 as the new version; that edition and its 2015 and 2018 amendments have since been replaced by ISO 80601-2-13:2022. The earlier edition, ISO 8835-3:1997, is also withdrawn.

## What it covered

ISO 8835-3 specified requirements for the transfer and receiving systems of active anaesthetic gas scavenging systems (AGSS), intended to reduce the exposure of healthcare personnel to anaesthetic gases and vapours while protecting the patient, for example against excessive flow and pressure. It also covered transfer and receiving systems in which the power device is integral with the system.

## What replaced it

ISO 80601-2-13:2022 sets particular requirements for the basic safety and essential performance of an anaesthetic workstation for administering inhalational anaesthesia while continuously attended by a professional operator, and lists the anaesthetic gas scavenging system among the workstation components it covers. Amendment 1:2026 to the 2022 edition has been published.

## Where it is still cited

[ISO 7396-2:2007](https://library.ultracontrolo.com/standards/iso-7396-2/), the standard for anaesthetic gas scavenging disposal systems, still applies only to disposal systems intended to be connected via terminal units compliant with [ISO 9170-2](https://library.ultracontrolo.com/standards/iso-9170-2/) to receiving systems compliant with ISO 8835-3. ISO lists ISO 80601-2-13 as the revision of ISO 8835-3, and its edition in force is ISO 80601-2-13:2022.

### Is ISO 8835-3 still in force?

No. ISO withdrew ISO 8835-3:2007 on 8 August 2011 and lists ISO 80601-2-13 as its revision; the edition in force is ISO 80601-2-13:2022.

### Which standard covers anaesthetic gas scavenging on the anaesthetic workstation now?

ISO 80601-2-13:2022, the anaesthetic workstation standard, lists the anaesthetic gas scavenging system among the components it covers.
