Standards

ISO 14001

ISO 14001 is the ISO standard for environmental management systems (EMS): ISO describes it as a framework for organisations to design and implement an EMS and continually improve their environmental performance, and it enables certification by third-party certification bodies.

The current edition is ISO 14001:2026 (edition 4, published in April 2026), titled Environmental management systems: Requirements with guidance for use; ISO lists ISO 14001:2015 as withdrawn. ISO says organisations certified to ISO 14001:2015 will have to transition to the new version within the timeframe set by their certification cycle, and should contact their certification body.

According to ISO, the framework covers aspects from resource usage and waste management to monitoring environmental performance and involving stakeholders in environmental commitments. Certification is a choice: some organisations implement the standard to benefit from the practices it contains, while others also certify to reassure customers.

Ultra Controlo is certified to ISO 14001, as well as to ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015.
