What preventive maintenance does a PSA oxygen plant need, and how often?

A PSA oxygen plant needs daily operator checks plus preventive maintenance on the manufacturer's schedule: filter changes, condensate drains, compressor service, calibration of oxygen sensors and pressure gauges, and recharging of the sieve beds when capacity or purity falls. Intervals depend on the equipment, so the supplier should hand over a written maintenance plan.

Who does it, and what to keep on site

PATH notes that preventive maintenance needing trained engineers, such as cleaning or replacing filters, draining water or oil traps, replacing lubricants and calibrating pressure and oxygen sensors, can be contracted to the manufacturer. The USAID procedure says preventive maintenance should only be done by experienced, properly trained personnel. Global Fund sustainability guidance strongly advises a long-term warranty and maintenance contract of 5 years, recommends a spare parts inventory of at least two years, and asks for records of daily checklists, preventive maintenance and repairs. At commissioning, the supplier should hand over a preventive maintenance schedule with the service interval and parts kit for each item of equipment.

ULTRAOX plants

The ULTRAOX SC datasheet states one service at 10,000 hours for the plant with oil-less ULTRACECO compressors. The ULTRAOX datasheet states that in good conditions the zeolite can last up to 10 years or more without replacement, and the plant is designed for a minimum life cycle of 150,000 hours.
