EN 737-3 Medical gas pipeline systems, Part 3 (withdrawn)

EN 737-3:1998 + A1:1999, Medical gas pipeline systems, Part 3: Pipelines for compressed medical gases and vacuum, is a withdrawn European (CEN) standard; DIN Media lists its German edition, DIN EN 737-3:2000-01, as withdrawn and replaced by DIN EN ISO 7396-1, whose current edition adopts EN ISO 7396-1:2016 + A1:2019.

Status

EN is the designation of a European standard published by CEN or CENELEC. DIN Media lists DIN EN 737-3:2000-01, the German version of EN 737-3:1998 + A1:1999 (76 pages, published in January 2000), as withdrawn. That edition replaced DIN EN 737-3:1998-11 and was itself replaced by DIN EN ISO 7396-1:2007-07 and DIN EN ISO 7396-1:2010-08.

What it covered

As its title says, EN 737-3 was Part 3 of a European series on medical gas pipeline systems and dealt with pipelines for compressed medical gases and vacuum. DIN Media names DIN EN ISO 7396-1 as the document that replaced it.

What to cite instead

  • In Europe: EN ISO 7396-1:2016 + A1:2019. DIN Media lists DIN EN ISO 7396-1:2019-06, the German version of EN ISO 7396-1:2016 + A1:2019 (ISO 7396-1:2016 + Amd 1:2017), as current; it replaces DIN EN ISO 7396-1:2016-09.
  • Internationally: ISO 7396-1:2016 with Amendment 1:2017. ISO lists it as current but expects it to be replaced by a new ISO 7396-1 within the coming months, so check iso.org before quoting the edition.
  • ISO 7396-1:2016 covers pipelines for medical gases, air and nitrogen for driving surgical tools, and vacuum. Anaesthetic gas scavenging disposal systems are covered by ISO 7396-2, and terminal units by ISO 9170-1.

A specification that asks for EN 737-3 refers to a standard that DIN Media lists as withdrawn.
