Medical gas alarm relay

Ultra Controlo describes its medical gas alarm relays as relays for hospital pipeline systems that either trigger audible and visual alarms on pressure deviation or, in the valve-monitoring model, give open or closed position indication and an alarm output for zone isolation valves.

Ultra Controlo offers an alarm relay panel that triggers audible and visual alarms on pressure deviation in oxygen, compressed air, vacuum and nitrous oxide distribution systems; a single-zone panel with local and remote alarm outputs for high and low pressure; a relay for valve monitoring that gives open or closed position indication and an alarm output for zone isolation valves; and a 2nd stage alarm relay with high and low pressure alarms for secondary distribution circuits.

In HTM 02-01 (2026), the NHS England guidance, plant alarm systems comprise relays and pressure switches or transducers to initiate the alarms, and all relays should be energised in their closed condition (closed = no fault; open = fault) and must drop open on loss of power. HTM 02-01 calls this a fail-safe design that supports integration with a building management system (BMS).
